A movie that is both fantastic and comical, and whose story is set in Yamatokoriyama City in Nara Prefecture of Japan, a city whose traditional industry is goldfish breeding. Yamato Kingyoen's facility was used as the location.
Yamatokoriyama
is
the
birthplace
of
Shohei
Shiozaki,
the
director
and
scriptwriter
of
the
movie.
The
movie
is
about
a
Brazilian
boy
of
Japanese
descent,
who
comes
to
Japan
because
his
parents
want
to
work
and
live
in
a
goldfish-breeding
town
in
the
country.
The
boy
is
treated
harshly
by
his
classmates
at
school,
and
wants
to
return
to
Brazil.
One
day,
however,
he
discovers
goldfish
shining
in
blue
in
an
ancient
tomb.
He
strives
to
makes
this
mystery
clear,
together
with
Hanako,
a
girl
classmate
whose
father
engages
in
goldfish
breeding.
The
boy
and
girl
protect
the
goldfish
with
all
their
might,
as
the
mayor
of
the
town
and
other
adults
try
to
profit
from
them.
A
now
forgotten
legend
on
goldfish
triggers
a
miracle
in
the
town.
The
girl's
father
in
this
story
is
modeled
after
Teruya
Shimada,
Representative
of
Yamato
Kingyoen.
